Wildfire season started earlier this year

REPORT WILDFIRES. Calling 310-FIRE (3473) is quick and easy and is available toll free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Alberta's wildfire season started earlier than usual this year, beginning on February 20. The premature onset is a result of the drought conditions in numerous regions of the province, posing an increased fire hazard in the absence of substantial spring rainfall. Help prevent human-caused wildfires by being extra cautious in forested areas.

It is strongly recommended to revisit and inspect all winter burn projects to ensure that they have been fully extinguished.

Fire permits are now mandatory for all outdoor burning activities, excluding campfires. These permits are free of charge and can be obtained online at firepermits.alberta.ca. Alternatively, you can request your fire permit by contacting your local Forestry Office.
