Nomination Forms

Please note that the period to submit nominations closed at 12:00 noon on September 20, 2021.

Your nomination must be filed using the required forms (Form 4: Nomination Paper and Candidate’s Acceptance, and Form 5: Candidate Information). Additional candidate resources and election details will be available throughout 2021.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, nomination forms must be filed with the Returning Officer by appointment only. Please contact the Returning Officer at 780.849.4888 or election2021@mdlsr.ca to schedule your appointment or to discuss the nomination process.

Please note that due to their security features, the nomination forms cannot be viewed on the MD's webpage. Once downloaded from the Alberta government website, these forms can be completed manually or electronically and submitted via the instructions indicated on each form.

Community Participation

Local government provides a number of different opportunities for you to participate in the planning, management and growth of your own community. As a resident of the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River, you are able to:

  • Run for Reeve or Councillor
  • Vote at general elections or public approval opportunities
  • Participate in public consultations and public hearings
  • Attend Council, Committee or Board meetings
  • Volunteer for a Committee or Commission

As a resident of Lesser Slave River, you may at any time make your views known. It’s usually best to begin this dialogue by contacting the appropriate municipal department or staff member. However, residents may also present their views to Council in writing or in person* at a Council meeting.

*Until further notice, MD Council meetings will be supported by Zoom; an online and user-friendly communications tool for video and audio conferencing.
