This fall I begin my first year of nursing. My plan is to become an RN and to then possibly go for my masters of nursing as a nurse practitioner. I chose nursing because my real goal in life is to be a farmer. I am a dreamer but the practical side of me knows that in this day and age a Monday to Friday job is necessary in order to make this dream a reality.

My boyfriend and I moved to Hondo where he bought a farm, and that is where we plan to stay. I plan to work in the MD nursing most likely in Slave Lake. If I am lucky (like I previously said I am a dreamer), I would love to be a travel nurse setting up "pop up" or possibly a small office for vaccinations and such in communities like Smith and Flatbush where people don't have easy access to clinics. I think doing this would help specifically with seniors and people who may have a hard time driving into surrounding communities just for these quick appointments.

I love helping people and knowing how this could affect small communities in such a big way, while helping my farming dream is one of the reasons nursing seemed like the right career path for me.

Growing up on a farm, I have always possessed a dear love for animals. From the time I could walk, I always adored the animals I grew up around on the farm. I am currently attending the University of Saskatchewan and am in my second year of my Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience. I chose this degree path on the basis of two factors and influences, my love for animals, and to give back to my community. This degree holds all of my prerequisites to advance into my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).

My dream has always been to become a veterinarian, and to help the animals we all as a rural community, love so much, and for many whom rely on them for their livelyhood. With completing my appropriate prerequisite courses and my degree at the University of Saskatchewan, I will then advance to the University of Calgary with the driven mindset of completing my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). I have experienced the struggle coming from the farm of having to rush an animal to Westlock, in hopes the animal survives the trip. That exact reason is why my future goals and intentions is to bring a practice centralized to the members within the MD. The vast amount of farmers within the community have inspired me so dearly that I feel it is in my own hands to open a practice, and devote my time and help to those who inspired me; and give back to the community for future generations to come.

have been working under the direct supervision of Mr. Saidi Assumani. He is a Municipal Engineering Technologist and has been working for the MD for almost a year. One of the things I was surprised to see was the number of skills that he possesses whether it is Surveying and GIS, Design and AutoCAD, or Drone data capturing and processing. And this motivated me to learn new skills along with my current studies. So, I started learning them and he always helped me and explained them to me to the best of his abilities.

Communication is the key I think in leadership, the clearer the roles and tasks are the better the results for the individuals and the MD.

Since childhood, I always had an interest in mathematics, especially numbers and lines. I chose Geographic Information Skills as a career path when I move to Canada to have an applied skills in my field of interest. I liked the course length and the opportunity to work in the industry while being a student. I will graduate this December and would
love to work with the MD if the opportunity persists.
