The MD welcomes Barry Kolenosky aboard as the newest addition to the Rural Services Department. Barry joins the MD in the capacity of Agricultural Fieldman.
Barry began his role as the MD’s Agricultural Fieldman on September 4, 2018. Barry brings forth a wealth of municipal experience, with over 20 years of direct experience working in the agricultural and environmental sectors of rural municipalities across Alberta. In addition, he has been involved in the operations of a mixed family farm for most of his life, and is currently running a small beef cattle operation east of Boyle with his wife Connie and their three sons.
Barry likes to be innovative in putting ideas into practice, and is constantly thinking outside the box. He enjoys mentoring younger folk and encourages them not to relive mistakes made by others. However, he also believes that every day a person can learn something new by listening to others as they share their life experiences.
Over the years, Barry has brought outstanding service to the municipalities he has served, and has been awarded individually and as a team, bringing forth municipal policies and procedures to serve area residents. He states that one of his proudest achievements was being honored as a recipient of 2014 Emerald Award of Alberta for individual commitment for his environmental municipal policies and program initiation for the residents he served. His thought process centers on innovative, practical solutions considering proven agricultural/municipal/economic development procedures and respecting the environment we live in so that our children’s children will have a sustainable place to call home.
Barry is currently working out of the Flatbush Rural Services office and can be reached via the following contact information:
